5th Ave

Congratulations, 5th Avenue Theatre, on your coming season! Let's take a brief look, shall we?

Something Rotten!
September 12 - October 1, 2017

Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play, but there's a guy taking all the glory and fame. That guy is Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel hit on an idea - they should write the world's first musical. The Broadway production was nominated for ten Tony Awards in 2015, including Best Musical.

October 13 - November 5, 2017

Based on the E.L. Doctorow novel, the musical takes a look at three distinct families in turn-of-the-century America. It garnered 13 Tony Award nominations during its initial Broadway run in 1998.

Irvin Berlin's Holiday Inn
November 24 - December 31, 2017

This will be the West Coast premiere of the Irving Berlin musical.

February 9 - March 4, 2018

From the master of wacky comedies including Airplane! and The Naked Gun, Jerry Zucker, comes the 5th Avenue Theatre's 19th world premiere musical.

Ride the Cyclone
Mary 9 - May 20, 2018

Part tragedy, part comedy, the musical tells the story of a high school choir that boards a faulty roller coaster with tragic results. This show is a co-production with ACT - A Contemporary Theatre.

Kiss Me, Kate
April 6-29, 2018

As part of a city-wide Shakespeare festival, the 5th Avenue Theatre is participating with the classic Cole Porter musical, Kiss Me, Kate

The Hunchback of Notre Dame
June 1-24, 2018

A retelling of Victor Hugo's epic masterpiece, the show will star John McGinty, a deaf actor who previously played the role in the Sacramento Music Circus production.
