Seattle Symphony's summer programming is vibrant.
June performances include a rare, semi-staged performance of Maurice Ravel's one-act opera, The Child and the Spells. Also, Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto will play Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. Soon after, the Symphony attacks Richard Strauss's tone poem, An Alpine Symphony. The month concludes with a performance of Mahler's colossal Fifth Symphony.
